The last few days in Breck were all about resting, seeing family, eating well and getting organized for the final week of the trip. You see, it snowed. Only about 4 inches. But that was enough to force us to slow down. Which was a nice and timely change of pace.We still did walks through town and up into the hills around us. And still did happy hour at the hot pools outside. We made dinner, did laundry, watched movies; and watched the President's Cup golf on TV. We went to a fabulous four course, locally-sourced fundraiser dinner at Vinny's in Frisco (first time Jan or I had ever eaten bear meat) with Brooke (niece), Carlin and their friends. And we had Lindsay (niece) and Brooke and family over for a pool party and dinner at our place (the really awesome time share apartment we stayed in at Grand Timber Lodge). It felt like a relaxing weekend at home.

It was delightful to spend time with Brooke and Lindsay (my sister Sue's daughters). It was wonderful to see Brooke's family in action: husband Carlin (truly a good, honorable and fun guy), and boys Wentzle (5) and Zephyr (2) -- both adorable and full of spirit. We didn't get to meet Lindsay's boyfriend Brian. He is getting treatment for multiple myeloma in Arkansas, which has a world class treatment center. It's good to know that Brian is getting the best care possible. We'll hold him in our thoughts.
So now that we're good and rested, and have our batteries recharged, we will head back on the road for the final week of this grand adventure. We already know that we have to adjust course due to weather and the federal government shut down. But being flexible and opportunistic is what a good road trip is all about! So read the next post to see where we end up!
