By sundown of our second day in New Zealand we were in Picton, the launching place for ferries to the North island. The quaint town has a population of 4,000, and a stunning view, which was brilliant the next morning.
We started our day today with a 90 minute hike to Bob's Bay. (Based on my Fitbit step totals, Jenny Vanderwall thinks I am walking my way across the country. I am doing my best to make that true. They really love to walk here and have wonderful trails for doing so.) It was a glorious morning, and the scenery felt like walking along a fjord. And the mushrooms here win a prize for best color.
This afternoon we went on a guided tour of Marlborough wineries. This region produces 70% of the wine in New Zealand, and is particularly famous for its grapefruity sauvignon blancs, which we love to drink at home. All in all, it was a fabulous day.
The mushrooms look fake, the vistas beautiful and the wine delicious! Happy travels.
